Fire Sprinklers Can Actually Cause A Disaster!

If you own a home equipped with built-in fire sprinklers, you can rest assured that if there is a fire, your home will be saved from burning. Unfortunately, it's a double-edged sword. Once fire sprinklers have been triggered, as much as 8-24 gallons of water per minute (GPM) can be discharged from each sprinkler head.  If your system has, for instance, 15 sprinklers: 24 X 15 = 360 gallons per minute flowing into your home at once. While the fire is out, the water damage can be tremendous. We at SERVPRO of Mission Viejo specialize in large water losses, specifically due to fire sprinkler floods. Our crew will immediately go to work removing all contents, cabinets, drywall, ceilings, and fixtures. Once removed, we then place multiple drying units and dehumidifiers in each area damaged for several days, until moisture meter readings are returned to normal range.
